What are the effects of CBD?

Take some cannabidiol (CBD) to speak easily in front of a camera.

Overcome Your Fear of Public Speaking

The purpose of the test: speak in front of a camera for a few minutes, time during which are registered parameters to quantify the anxiety such as heartbeat, blood pressure and skin conductance.

The results are astonishing. Cannabidiol reduces anxiety for healthy people who must hold a speech before an audience (ref: Schier AR & Co. [1]). A study of 2011 has shown that cannabidiol can thus improve the performance of speaker or concentration and determination during an interview. And also in other situations where the person is in a context that is not familiar to him: claustrophobia, vertigo, etc… (ref : Bergamaschi MM & Co. [2])

Without psychotic effects but, to the contrary, with an wide array of potentially therapeutic actions at the level of the nervous system, cannabidiol is described today to be[3]:

  • antipsychotic
  • neuroprotective
  • anti-inflammatory
  • anticonvulsant
  • antiepileptic
  • sedative
  • anxiolytic

CBD protects the brain

For example, cannabidiol is protecting the hippocampus (region of the brain responsible for memory and the ability to remain attentive) of its volume decrease due to cannabis use (ref : Hermann D & Co.[4]). This protective effect was also found at the level of the basal ganglia, involved in the control of movements. It is likely that cannabidiol increases neuronal integrity in these regions of the brain (ref : Campos AC & Co.[5]).

The antipsychotic power of cannabidiol

When comparing antipsychotics such as haloperidol chemical remedies with cannabidiol, it turned out to have a very similar action with the advantage that its use is side effects free (ref : Mechoulam R & Co.[6])

Cannabidiol protects the nervous system

In addition to antipsychotic powers, we can add the neuroprotective effects. Several experiments have shown that cannabidiol may prevent or inhibit neuronal death. In addition, cannabidiol may induce brain damage repair to a brain ischemia. The mechanisms of action at the base of this neuroprotective action involve on the one hand the increase of blood circulation in the brain, and on the other hand the anti-inflammatory characteristics of cannabidiol which inhibit monocytes and macrophages cells, whose role is to degrade other diseased cells (ibid ref : Campos AC & Co).
